About the artist

Sage Palmedo is a vocalist, music producer and energy healer with a mission of understanding and healing the collective body that is our Earth. Drawing from her background in sensory ecology and evolutionary neuroscience, she composes soundscapes that nourish listeners’ nervous system towards evolution and balance.

On a semester abroad in 2018 at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute, Sage was immersed in tropical rainforests and coral reefs; the energy and the sounds she experienced there inspired her first self-produced EP. Her work with endophytic fungi contributed to a publication in the American Journal of Botany (Christian et al., 2020).

Upon her return, Sage completed a research thesis at the Princeton Neuroscience Institute, studying the love song fruit flies compose by vibrating their wings — mating is mediated by female choice, based on their attraction to the sonic patterning of male song. Sage examined the neural circuitry female brains of different fly species use to process sounds. She won the Class of ‘43 Brinster Prize for most outstanding Neuroscience thesis and was inducted into the Sigma Xi Scientific Research Society for her work.

Since then, Sage has been exploring the connection between the sounds we hear and planetary wellbeing.

For two years, Sage worked as a sound designer and researcher at Sen Sound, under the guidance of ambient musician Yoko K.. Sen Sound seeks to transform the acoustic environment in hospitals from dissonance to harmony, reducing stress and facilitating healing. While there, Sage began working on her debut therapeutic album, ‘Resonant Healing,' designed with an intention to provide sensory relief for medical caregivers whose ears are often overwhelmed with the noise of hospital equipment.

In medical school, Sage has led group meditations and energy healing workshops as part of Medical Students for a Sustainable Future. As a Health & Humanities scholar, she collaborated with Dartmouth’s Masters Program in Digital Musics to organize a symposium exploring music and medicine from a cross-cultural perspective.

For two years Sage served as a Gen Z Advisor for the Climate Mental Health Network, advocating for greater connection to our sensory environment. As part of this organization, she designed an immersive eco-spiritual sound journey, ‘Heartbeat of Home,’ and has been co-hosting Creative Café events to help participants connect to the creative spirit of Earth.
